I found out last night that we are now NUMBER 1 for a girl too. It could actually be a boy OR a girl. Do you know the song Tradition from The Fiddler on the Roof? I keep hearing that song in my head except instead of the word tradition I hear anticipation. It.is.building.
Crazy lady: "Why won't my phone ring????"
Mr. Fix It: "Is it on vibrate? Turn it off and then on. You do that by holding down the button."
Crazy lady: "I meant why hasn't Mary called me. I am impatient. I do NOT have a phone problem. You are so literal."
Mr. Fix It: "Oh."
Yep, that is Damon and me in a nutshell. It was reassuring when I polled the other adoptive moms at the ETSS meeting that night about what they would think I meant by, "Why won't my phone ring?" They immediately knew I was referring to THE call. Amy's wonderful husband asked me if I dropped my phone in a cup of coffee. HA! At least Damon and I are not alone. I try not to succumb to stereotypes but sometimes we just fall right in to them.
I got a new pair of shoes over Easter weekend. Here I go with the stereotypes again. I am actually not really a shoe person but for some reason when my mom comes to town I usually end up with a new pair of shoes. Typically we go to DSW and I'll get a new pair of trail shoes or some cute flip flops. This year my mom and I had our eyes set on something different.

We both got a pair of TOMS Shoes in honor of A Day Without Shoes. Damon and I still have our team at Common Threadz and to date have raised enough money for 125 pairs of shoes for orphans in need! We are working towards 150 pairs so we are almost there.
Here is the LINK to donate $10 for a pair of shoes in honor of A Day Without Shoes.
Hopefully my next post will an exciting one!
You and Damon are definitely not alone!
ReplyDeleteAnd look at you all the way up at the top! I have butterflies for you!!!!!!!
Oh, almost forgot, you are so right about Dinosaur Train. I have been recording it for months now!! I have even watched a few episodes myself.
ReplyDeleteDoes that make me a card carrying member of Crazy Town?
That conversations is priceless!
ReplyDeleteThose are my next TOMS purchase, love them.

Oh my gosh! Your conversation with Damon cracked me up. Seriously, that would be Taher's response as well. Too funny!
ReplyDeleteYou were actually in my dream last night! We were at some adoption meeting, and there was a huge board with the order for referrals, and you were #1, all by yourself. It was a bizarre dream, and I guess I dreamt it because I want your referral to come so badly.
And how crazy that it could be a BOY or a GIRL! I'm guessing from day 1 you've assumed it would be a boy. I know our agency pretty much told us boys are a shorter wait. How exciting. All of this. I cannot wait to celebrate with you. :)
Can't wait to hear about that call!! Oh, and that texting conversation is something that we would surely do, too. Praying it's soon!
ReplyDeleteIt is weird but I was just reading your blog the other day and was thinking "wouldn't it be cool if while she was waiting for the call for a boy that she got into the #1 slot for a girl" I'm so excited for you guys and think it would be great for you guys either way.
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy! It could now be either?????!!!! How fun! Now I'm really waiting on the edge of my seat to find out what you are having!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd nope, you're not even close to crazy. You're on the normal spectrum for any expectant adoptive mother. Believe you me, I've seen CRAZY, haha...
Come on, phone, RRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!
Oh my - you are really absolutely first! Now it's not whether it's a boy or a girl... oh my goodness! SO exciting. Can't wait to hear more. I can't even imagine - I'd be like you wondering why my phone isn't ringing. C'mon phone, ring already!
ReplyDeleteSuch excitement!
ReplyDeleteAnd you aren't any crazier than the rest of us :) You will be doing the same thing waiting for a court date. For the first time in almost a year I am not glued to my phone!
I want to go shopping for a pair of Tom's soon, just haven't had a chance to get downtown.
ReplyDeleteUUHHhhhmm you guys total rock the CommonThreadz donations. You are so cool.
I am so glad you will be having a boy or a girl. That is finally confirmed. Ha ha.
If your phone doesn't ring in 7 days or less I'd return it to the store. Love You!
boy or girl!!! that should decrease your wait time by 50%, right? (please don't take away my math tutoring card)
ReplyDeleteso excited for you guys!
a
Love it! Anticipating your "referral" blog post. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, how do these men not get it?
ReplyDeleteI continue to anxiously await good news for you guys. Soon, soon, soon....
So excited for you guys! Can't wait to hear you got THE CALL!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I am so excited and can't wait for you to get the call!!!
ReplyDeleteover from the FBI list...for the record my husband would have said the SAME exact thing about the phone. But, now that I am waiting for YOUR phone to ring(ha!) can you just check it quickly to make sure it's not on vibrate! ;)
ReplyDeleteyou are so close!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I love toms! My mom just bought me a pair to wear when we travel to Ethiopia in a few weeks!
